world trade center II:

This proposal consisted of four identical towers representing the four planes that went down on 9-11. The tower forms were designed to be identical to symbolize how all four planes went down with the common denominator of human life. Hovering amidst the towers is a sphere representing heaven. The sphere was chosen for its familiar shape; one that everyone could readily relate to in terms of earth, moon and sun. Inside the heart of “heaven” lies a suspended green space surrounded by a moat of shimmering water. The slow movement of the water is representative of the souls resting in peace of the victims of 9-11. This symbolic relationship was designed to profoundly touch the hearts of all Americans and to serve as a terminus for spiritual pilgrimages. The platonic forms were used to purposely throw off the scale of the building to make it appear surreal. This project was designed to be more than merely rentable square footage…it was designed to be a worldwide memorial landmark for freedom, justice, and the American way of life. The building was designed to be a tribute to our humanity.

*This proposal was aired on CNN Evening News in September of 2002. It was chosen from submissions worldwide to be aired.
